Customer Rating: Summary: A masterpiece from a legend Comment: Truth be told, I bought this CD many years ago and foolishly gave it away. I just recently bought another from Amazon. The only reason I can give for giving it away in the first place is temporary insanity. EmmyLou Harris is one of my absolute favorite artists and then to have Vince Gill (another of my favorites) singing harmony is beyond wonderful. This is pure joy from beginning to end.
Customer Rating: Summary: EMMYLOU HARRIS Comment: This is Emmylou at her best!
Great Gospel music!
inspiring and i love every song!
Customer Rating: Summary: Original Emmylou Comment: I have been an Emmylou Harris fan since both she and I were young. I recently purchased the Angel Band CD and I have to say it is the best of her sound that I own. There is not one song on the CD that I do not thoroughly enjoy. This sounds like the real Emmylou to me. I find it addictive and often listen to it several time in succession.
Customer Rating: Summary: Amen, I feel like listening... Comment: Emmy Lou Harris is peerless. She is in a class all her own. No one I can think of pours herself out to sing like she does. This cd works on so many levels. Please treat yourself. It will be a blessing, if you want it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Emmylou Harris CD Comment: This CD is a welcome addition to anyone's Emmylou collection. I have loved listening to her and this CD came in excellent condition and I would buy from them again and again.

Editorial Reviews:

Nestled in the sparest, most pristine musical surroundings of her career, Emmylou Harris delivers her most sublime vocal triumph with this 1987 collection of acoustic gospel songs. By this time, her voice had taken on a slight huskiness, which only strengthened its emotional power. Much of the credit belongs to Vince Gill, who adds tasteful mandolin runs and gorgeous tenor harmonies, as well Emory Gordy (bass, bass vocals) and Carl Jackson (guitar, baritone vocals). All four combine to make the a cappella "Bright Morning Stars" glow warmly and the ebullient "We Shall Rise" shine brightly. When Harris's voice shivers on "Precious Memories" and soars on "If I Be Lifted Up," the result is indeed spiritual. --Marc Greilsamer
