Customer Rating: Summary: BarlowGirl at their best!! Comment: The first thing I want to say is: WOW! These girls really know how to make music. They send a great message to the listeners and make it extremely enjoyable to listen to. I used to never enjoy any Christian music, but BarlowGirl's music opened me up to all the contemporary Christian music on the market. Even though I've heard a lot of music, I think BarlowGirl is definitely the best!
On My Own: 10/10. One of the best on the album! Don't know what's so wonderful about it, but I just love it! Great beat, lyrics, music, everything.
Pedestal: 9/10. A great song, could be a little better, but still an amazing song. It has great lyrics and great music.
Never Alone: 10/10. Their best song on any album. Amazing ballad about God and gives me shivers when I listen to it.
Harder Than the First Time: 9/10. Gets a little repetitive.
You Led Me: 9/10. Can get boring to listen to at times, yet it gets a great message across and is easy to listen to.
Mirror: 10/10. Another one of the best songs on any album. The best message, the best lyrics, and the best rhythm/beat/music.
Superstar: 8/10. This one is a take it or leave it song. I'm not in love with the song anymore, but I still like it.
Clothes: 9/10. Awesome message and great lyrics.
She Walked Away: 9/10. Another song that gives me shivers. I don't know if it's because the fact it really happened (one of their friends ran away from home) or the whole concept of the song, but it is really good.
Average Girl: 8/10. Slightly cheesy, but a good message and fun to listen to.
Surrender: 6/10. I thought it was good, but it's slow and it has a weird recording at the end of it (or at least the copy I have does) that says "Ladies and gentlemen, BarlowGirl" over and over. Really annoying.
Overall CD Rating: 9/10. This is one of the few CD's where I only skip one song (Surrender). I love every single song except for the last one. I definitely would recommend this one.
Customer Rating: Summary: Everyday Topics For Everyday Christians Comment: This is one of my favorite cd's. Each song features different issues/struggles that Christians face everyday. It offers the hope and truth one can find when they put their trust in the Lord, Jesus Christ. I also love the fact that this is a family affair! It has been a great encouragement to me! A few of my favorite songs are "Never Alone", "Average Girl", and "Surrender".
Customer Rating: Summary: Feeling a bit argumentative... Comment: I love this CD so much, EVERY song (and I'm seventeen-- so this is not a "pre-teen only band". But, I'd like to focus on one song in particular: Average Girl. Wait, stop, listen, I'm not going to say what you think (probably). To all the stupid, ignorant people who have written reviews against this song, please go back and actually LISTEN to it! God is picking someone for you, that guy is for you and only you. So, what's the use of dating? If there is one guy, don't you think God's going to get him to you? Or do you think He's telling you to go try a bunch of different guys until you find the right one? NO. If I know God he's chosen a beautifully unique and spectacular way for you to meet Mr. Right. Wait for it. Don't bother with the rest of them for anything but friendship.
Customer Rating: Summary: 1 GREAT song--the rest not well written/produced Comment: I heard a LOT about this band but only "Harder Than The First Time" caught my ear the first time I heard it. It's produced EXACTLY like Kelly Clarkson's pop/rock hits but the rest of this Barlow Girl CD just didn't work for me. The lyrics and music didn't go well together and for the most part, the music simply isn't memorable -- no great hooks. And vocally, it would be nice if the girls put a little more passion behind their efforts.
So, download "Harder Than The First Time" and save your money.
Customer Rating: Summary: I Didn't Know What To Expect, But I Didn't Expect Them To Be This Good! Comment: I like this style of music, but expected Barlow Girl to be terminally cute. Not so. This is a very good quality project. My favorite tracks include "On My Own", "Pedestal", "Mirror", and "Average Girl".
